Family Resources

Leading your family into the Christmas season can be challenging, especially if you are not confident that you are prepared yourself. And 2020 has been a year that might make it hard to prepare your heart to celebrate anything!

Here are some simple ways to help center your family on Jesus and prepare the hearts of your home for Christmas. We hope these resources will be a blessing to you and your family this season.

An Introduction to Advent for Parents

“Advent” comes from the Latin word that meant “coming” -- and it’s the season right before Christmas where Christian churches remember, celebrate, and anticipate the coming of Jesus. We remember the story of His birth as a baby placed in a manger, we celebrate His work here on the Earth to save us, and we anticipate His eventual return to make all things restored and renewed. This is the purpose of Advent.

So, for the month of December, we are providing daily readings and activities for families and adults. These readings will retrace the story of Jesus’ coming for your children, as well as prepare your hearts for Jesus’ ultimate return. The family Advent readings and activities come from our KidMin curriculum, Parent Cue, and the adult readings come from The Bible Project (a ministry that helps make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere).

At the Bridge

We want to invite you to join us for one of our favorite gatherings of the year, our Christmas Eve gathering. This year we will be hosting our family friendly gathering outdoors. If you are not able to join us on that day you can follow along on any of our live stream platforms.

We've asked some kids to help us retell the story of Christmas
for you and your family!

You can watch it here, or stream it on your smart TV by going to The Bridge Kids YouTube channel.

Activities and coloring pages for the little ones in your home to engage their imaginations and help tell the Christmas story. Each file is a letter-sized printable, and instructions are attached at the end of the activity pages.

This year has been challenging, and we believe that we serve a God who is near to us and hears our prayers. How can we pray for you or your family this Christmas?
